Inspiring the Next Generation of Creative Talent

Students on the Creative Media diploma and HND courses at West Nottinghamshire College recently had the opportunity to learn from industry professional Aiden Wilson, a concept artist with Nottingham-based studio Brainbug Ltd.

Aiden visited the college to share his expertise, review student portfolios, and offer tailored guidance designed to help learners strengthen their artistic skills and prepare for future careers in the creative industries.

Professional Feedback From a Working Artist

During the visit, Aiden spent time speaking individually with students, discussing their artwork, character designs, digital illustration, and concept development pieces. His insights helped students understand industry expectations and identify areas to grow and refine.

The session offered a rare chance for learners to gain real-world perspective directly from someone working in animation, game development, and concept art — providing a valuable bridge between education and professional practice.

A Boost to Skills, Confidence, and Career Readiness

Engaging with a professional concept artist gave students a deeper understanding of the creative process and the standards required in the industry. For many, the workshop boosted confidence in their own work and motivated them to keep developing their portfolios.

The visit also highlighted the career pathways available within illustration, animation, game art, and visual development — offering inspiration and clarity for students considering their next steps after college.

Strengthening Creative Industry Connections

The college continues to build strong links with industry professionals to ensure students receive current, practical knowledge alongside their academic studies. Visits like this support the college’s ongoing commitment to providing meaningful, career-focused experiences that prepare learners for successful futures in the creative sector.
