Creative Digital Media students from West Nottinghamshire College were given the opportunity to present their original game character designs to industry professionals, providing valuable real-world experience and feedback from people currently working in the gaming sector.
The session welcomed former students, now working as online gaming creatives, who returned to share professional insight and guidance with current learners. This created a bridge between education and industry, helping students understand how their skills translate into real career pathways.
Students showcased original characters designed for online games, demonstrating skills in concept development, visual storytelling, and character personality creation. The event highlighted the importance of professional critique and industry engagement in preparing students for careers within the creative digital sector.
Additional social coverage also highlighted that students had developed character work in response to creative briefs, including themed projects such as jungle-inspired character design work.
Why This Matters for Students
Industry exposure helps students:
Understand real client expectations
Receive professional design feedback
Build confidence presenting creative work
See clear pathways into the games and digital media industries
Research also shows that exposure to professional perspectives helps students develop a more realistic understanding of game development and improves motivation and career readiness.
