A Standout Design for a Worthy Cause
A creative media student from West Nottinghamshire College has won a special design competition to create the new logo for the Feeding Mansfield Network, a community initiative aimed at supporting households dealing with food poverty.
Alberth Pirscoveanu, a 22-year-old student studying for a BTEC National Extended Diploma in Creative Digital Media Production, impressed judges with his fresh, leaf-inspired concept — a design chosen for its clarity, symbolism, and professional finish.
Celebrating Student Creativity
The winning design features a set of stylised green leaves, representing growth, nourishment and community support — perfectly aligning with the mission of Feeding Mansfield.
Alberth’s thoughtful approach and clean visual style stood out among the entries, earning him the top prize and a £50 shopping voucher as a reward for his creativity.
Mansfield Mayor Andy Abrahams attended the presentation and congratulated Alberth in person, praising the professionalism of the design and its suitability for the network’s public-facing identity.
Supporting Families Across Mansfield
The Feeding Mansfield Network, launched roughly a year ago, is led by Mansfield District Council and works with local agencies to provide support for people facing food insecurity. The network also helps residents access healthy and affordable food through community partnerships and support services.
Having a strong, recognisable visual identity will help the organisation raise awareness and extend its reach — and Alberth’s logo will now play a central role in that mission.
Real-World Experience for Emerging Designers
This project offered Alberth valuable experience in responding to a real client brief, thinking about audience needs, and developing a design that communicates a meaningful message. Opportunities like these help students strengthen their portfolios and build confidence for future creative careers.
